Spinach pastry
full of elastic
kneaded and wrapped
in a ball of plastic
then cooled in the fridge
so that it might soon be
skinny, stringy fettucine
boiled in salted water
served with basil pesto
to a hungry daughter
Makes her tummy smile
green spaghetti
stretched a mile
with a sprinkle of parmesan
on the table
she leaves me to scrub
the gunk filled pans
sweep n weep
over scattered nuts
on the kitchen floor
as she says goodbye
and exits via my maternal door

Ah!
Mother's love for her kids!
What can be greater than that!

It's just a matter of time that they grow up and leave, isn't it. The whole kitchen scene is so realistic and detailed, down to that one little "sprinkle of parmesan". Your choice of imagery is spot on in bringing out a mother's nurturing nature.

Seriously this makes me so hungry.

oh a mother's tale. So sweet. And believable. Luv it.
