I have been doing life
Holder of the knowledge
custodian of the land
place your hands above me
find where I can just be
lay my doing sickness
upon the landscape
cover it with earth
stimulate my body
through primitive sounds
ancient, low pitches
that swirl and vibrate
in their healing magic
along skin, bones
let my blood flow
and charge my organs
under the woody sight
of the didgeridoo
so that I might be
one with my existence
like a tree
in the morning sun

Hmmm sounds aboriginal and a cry for freedom and a life less taxing and taxation. But who is Holder of the knowledge, custodian of the land?

Indigenous people.

The above are my favorite lines;
I don't quite get the meaning, though!

Truly first class, Delta. This is among the best poems recently posted around here! It reads so well, and it's got a lot of depth of feeling, and truth in it. I love it! :)

That's good to know, I had guessed it was about the indigenous people, who know a sight more about sanity that we ever will. Many seem to have a sense of their own place, and have no interest in the stupidity of 21st Century trappings. I'd swap.

Lovely piece of poetry, Delta, although I confess it took me a while to get my head round it. Definitely 5-star..

I love this poem, the solemn good-heartedness of it, the quiet music. Thanks.
