"Although this may inflict a curse
I do not like religious verse."

'Would you like it on a hill
or taken with a drowsy pill?'

"I would not like it on a hill
or taken with a drowsy pill
Although this may inflict a curse
I do not like religious verse"

'Would you like it, preached on high?
or as a thunderbolt from the sky'

"Not preached on high
Not on a hill
Not from the sky
Not with a pill
Although this may inflict a curse
I do not like religious verse"

'Would you read it with a haunted host
Would you read it with beans on toast?'

"I would not read it with a haunted host
I would not disturb my beans on toast
Not on a hill
Not with a pill
Not preached on high
Not from the sky
Although this may inflict a curse
I do not like religious verse."

'Would you read it in skinny black jeans?
Would you, in your wildest dreams?'

"Not in my wildest dreams
would I wear those skinny jeans"

'You do not like the teachings
You say
Try them, try them and you may'

" I tried them many years ago
I tried them then and so I know
that though this may inflict a curse
I do not like religious verse.
Not on a hill
Not with a pill
Not preached on high
Not as thunderbolt from the sky
Not with a haunted host
Not with beans on toast
Never in my wildest dreams
Would I wear those skinny jeans
and when I receive my awaited curses
I still wont like religious verses.

Never read Dr. Seuss but I gather it must be a fairly repetitive nursery rhyme - which reminds me of..... No let's not go down that path. Sharp and witty Jerr.

More nonsensical than repetitive, but I think he captured the spirit of the Dr. very well. I enjoyed this piece.

Dr Suess appeals to children all over the world, and is still appeals to me. But if you understood the wisdom that Suess's story, you would also understand that one should not cast off who has not been tried.

Cracks me up. I've never read Dr. Seuss, then again, nursery rhyme never fails to turn me off. If you ever attempt another nursery rhyme other than for the purpose of making a parody, I'm sorry but I'll have to shoot you. :gnorsi:

You don't like Dr. Seuss?
What are you, some kind of wuss?

No kidding, though, this was hilarious and a brilliant Seussian parody!

Jerry - The Cat In The Hat ?
I feel quite ashamed that I did not know that was written by him.
(I'm relating to the film, which I find quite funny and interesting :D)

Dr. Seuss and all those hilarious and good-sounding lines are all cultural stuff for me!
But I can still enoy it with the help of the comments from other great poets!
Thanks, Jerry, for the piece! I'm learning!
