heavy lidded cat
nestled between
an ashtray
and a kleenex box
you who can doze
to the sound
of twittering birds
after a spring shower
I admire your sense
of peace and harmony
while your ears twitch
and process noise
so that your eyes
remain heavy

Rise and stretch cat
arch back with both feet forward
lap up dishwater from the sink
then curl up on a tattered copy
of Adrian Mole
and snooze to your own purr

Oh to be a cat - especially one blessed to have so much finely-observed poetry written in its honour (licks paws and smiles enigmatically).

The observation, as Hlll said, is so fine and accurate. Do I detect a note of envy? Certainly, when they talk about a Dogs Life, I'd swap tomorrow!

Hold on, you've got a cat and chickens? Isn't that a bit, well, inflammatory? Risky, even?

A poem about a cat is always a winner :D

I have a dog too but I'm not inspired enough to write about her

Oh Bach, my blessed doggy Bach
where art thou slippers?
lick thy puddle of beetroot juice
from holy wooden floor

any poems about cats will sure get my attention. And this is yet the most cativating!

I'm not a cat person, but enjoy this cat poem of yours none the less!
