I heard somewhere
my brother
has grown excessively
Now he feels
a budda like balance
He dictates from his
two and half seater throne
what people need to do
in their life so they might feel
as full as him
His fat spills and sloshes
over elastic pants
with each laboured breath
His *** print is
embedded deep in the couch
while his flabby arms
stretch forward and back
back and forward
multiple times in a day
like some routine exercise
to grab another ladle
of rich spicy food
He is driven to stuff his mouth full
till the sauce dribbles
out the sides and onto
his grubby soiled t-shirt
His void wobbles like laughter
as his fat chin glistens
I hear a good pint
washes all that gluttony down
He lifts one tree trunk thigh
and unleashes his opinion
of his wife's cooking
So preaches the couch potato

A lovingly painted portrait of a sibling, there Delta. A fascinating read, one wants to look away but one dare not, in case one misses some new gleefully revolting image described with such elegent vervre. Magnificent. H

well you see, I've been reading poems about trees, voids and fat. It kind of just unrolled itself before me...

One trusts that your brother is not on the Forum. I hope not, for your sake, Delta!

I fear if I say too much you will quote John lennon at me again. So I will just say nicely captured Delta.

I am probably stating the obvious here, but this poem reminds me of Roger McGough's poem entitled "Fart".
Love the poem! Guess helps you work on the sibling-pressure... Never thought of this kind of therapy, though! Good one!

Isn't it strange how things happen. I love my sister, yet she drives me mad - one afternoon every 6 months is more than enough. Thank heavens we have friends - the family that we choose for ourselves!

well, you see, she belongs to the same gene pool as the wicked stepmother...I don't swim there but she does on a regular basis.

Ah, right, got you! Been there, the step-parent. Could have strangled one of the little dears. His mother always wanted him to grow up and be the Dad that she had missed. Pity he was gay. I nearly wet myself laughing when I found out. She has a pilot's licence for a broomstick!

Mine yearned for legitimacy so she added her daughters name to my father's death certificate. Word to the stupid - don't mess with a commonwealth public servant who knows bureaucracy, govt acts and the penalties for providing misleading information
guess she still doesn't like me even if she desperately wants to be like me - the only daughter of my father!
there. I feel better now!

Delta, I don't want to worry you, but when you're referring to Jerry, the correct word is Crock. As in Old Crock.
