looking for an intellectual, secret society short story.

Hey, sorry for using the forums as part of a search, but the short story I am searching for seems obscure. Hopefully, someone here may provide help. The short story deals with a group of intellectual elites responsible for the fate of mankind, while remaining hidden by removing the word for their group from the dictionary. If anyone has any information on any possible matchs it is much appreciated.

Thanks for the recommendation, it is definitly a work of interest, though not the particular piece I am looking for. In hindsight the piece of interest is probably based on Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius. The fact I can not remember the name of this short story from freshman year in high school has been bothering me for awhile. Thanks again for the reply.
