View Full Version : The Logovore

The Logovore, who feeds on words,
has eaten my supply;
my dictionary seems quite bare,
the beast has left me dry

I track him now in cyberspace,
the spoor’s not hard to follow,
his fumets, reeking metaphors,
found lying on the morrow.

I trawl the forum’s pages;
the strands now knotted ropes,
there’s too much cover here, methinks
but still I have high hopes,

that I might yet catch up with him,
I hope I have the time,
to spear him with my rapier wit
in open fields of rhyme.

And when I’ve slain the hoary hound
I’ll open up his gut,
reclaiming all the words I’ve lost
through reading too much smut.

The corse I’ll leave for buzzards,
for they as well must eat,
the worms can just go hungry
while the birds tear at his meat.

And with my scrip of words refilled,
why then I will return,
to writing prose and poetry
in hopes my crust to earn.

Witty stuff, Hawk. All the usual suspects come to mind, but personally methinks 'tis a fair maiden that has made off with most of your arcane vocabulary.

G'day, Delta, glad it amused you. I certainly won't be coming to Oz to look for him, too many things out there that can kill you :D

You may, but you don't need to go hauling any swords from stones, I keep mine on the wall...

If only this were true, I wouldn't be running after questing beasts, but chasing her, through the leafy glades :D

The logovore, his task now done,
has left you lying in the sun
bereft of language, noun or verb.
A proposition most absurd!

So now, I suspect, your window-shopping will be no more than that? Very funny poem, thanks.

Song, you're very welcome.

Thanks Prince

When I catch him he'll be sorry
I will snare and slay my quarry
I'll teach the sod to steal from me
I'll nail him to the nearest tree.
but I haven't caught him yet
perhaps success is no safe bet!

Now you are inventing mythical beasts ..... is there no end?
You will have Daf having a go next, if he hasn't already.

Not me, kid. Like so many of us, I have an affinity with trees. Remember that song? "I talk to the trees"? That's why they put me away.

Not for the first time, I'm afraid. See the back catalogue :D Anyway, Daf is a mythical beast, so he has a head start :D

I seem to remember using that Spike Milligan quote a couple of months ago. (At least they let me out :D ) Dafydd isn't really a woody word, but I think Manton is...

No, please, anything but that! Not again, on such a multi-national Forum, we'll have the rest wondering what's going on!

And now for something completely different, Caribou, Gone! and don't let them nibble the croquet hoops.
