And drove off into the sunset and lived happily ever after..... not.

Interesting story, and you have created a very believeable character in Gary. I just feel you know more about him that you're not telling us.... where does pride come into it?

Is he too proud to admit he needs help? or too proud to accept his low self-esteem is the root of his problems and that seeking an alternative geographical setting isn't going to change things? or is he pre-programmd to self-destruct? I think if you explore a little more of his inner thoughts along the way you would have a more well-rounded story.

It's very good, but it's not finished imo.

I loved this story very much and the clinic was a brilliant setting. Didn't Gary say he had none and would not let himself starve to death over pride? I am thinking this does not correspond with his reluctance to accept help where it is offered - or is the point here that Gary like so many of us are contradictory beings? either way, you're a damn good story teller!

Hillwalker - I wanted to leave a lot for the reader to think about afterwards. I felt the reader can come to conclusions on his/her own, and i didn't want to delve into Gary's mind, except for what you find out by what he says. Because after all, all we know about the people in our lives is what they tell us.

Delta - thanks very much.
