Dark, ominous clouds,
Rolling swiftly across the plains,
My heart turned to coal,
Its fire cooled by unexpected rains.
Lightning strikes;
A fire being started.
New is created,
But the old is discarded.
This fire that burns,
Burns to create new life.
But it sometimes destroys the old,
Leaving for a while only pain and strife.
But out of the ashes,
A new beginnings must start,
And a new tree is growing,
From the ruins of my heart.
And though of the old,
We must leave and let go,
It will never be forgotten;
This I finally know.
And into the future we all must go
Rolling swiftly across the plains,
My heart turned to coal,
Its fire cooled by unexpected rains.
Lightning strikes;
A fire being started.
New is created,
But the old is discarded.
This fire that burns,
Burns to create new life.
But it sometimes destroys the old,
Leaving for a while only pain and strife.
But out of the ashes,
A new beginnings must start,
And a new tree is growing,
From the ruins of my heart.

It will never be forgotten;
This I finally know.
