those shoes never did fit
clunky chunky heels
a size too big
but you wore them anyway
with a tartan mini
and a puff of scent
you picked up my bag
and away we went

at the local buffet
a feast of food lay bare
where you can eat what you wish
and relish in the fare
but your shoes got in the way
as you teetered with your plate
and for some reason shoes
dictated what you ate

a mountain of mashed potato
with extra fries
a few roast tatties
I laughed till I cried

you doused your meal with gravy
and stumbled on the way
your food could not be savied
I held my breath
watched
in slow
motion

tattie spud and mash
hit me like a clowns pie
your eyes filled with tears
and I heard your sorry sigh

chunky heeled girl on her side
as you lay there on the floor
sweet six year old child
I've never loved you more

A really touching story but with a touch of slapstick thrown in - loved the image of footwear dictating diet.

So many lines to relish, beautiful funny and reminiscent Delta. You are gifted far beyond taxation .
