Hello everyone. Does anyone know of a book or a film that portrays mexican immigrants speaking English poorly due to it not being the characters' first languages? I am writing a short story about a mexican immigrant mother and her son and i am not familiar with the dialect enough to portray the dialogue correctly so far.

Help will be much appreciated. Thanks everyone. And sorry mod if this is in the wrong section. I felt this was the most appropriate

Eeeeh, I just looked into my DVD library to see if any had any...

There's Spanglish, I'm pretty sure that has some. Don't laugh, but in Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. Diego Luna has a pretty distinct accent when he speaks, he's originally Mexican but plays Cuban. Vicky Christina Barcelona, Real Women Have Curves, Tortilla Soup or basically anything with P. Cruz, Diego Luna, Lupe Ontiveros, etc.

I hope that helps.

sorry for the late reply, my laptop was broken for a bit. thanks genocide. i will definitely check out those movies. Vicky Christina Barcelona sounds interesting on its own enough to give it a watch.

Also, does anyone know if mexican-english dialect and spanish-english (the nation spain) dialect are different from each other? Found a good Hemingway piece called "The Capital of the World" with what i am looking for, but wasnt sure if there was a difference.

and any other film/book suggestions will be much appreciated.
