Let's dance by wurlitzer, dappled by a mirrorball.
Let's drink like beginners.
Let's laugh unheard, with heads thrown back,
twisting on cigarette butts.
Let's 'oops upside your head' ,
stuck to the beer on the floor.
Let's hokey cokey the night away,
putting our whole selves in.
Let's 'Zorba the Greek' 'til breathless.
Let's Can Can until we collapse.
Let's spin the room around us,
so I can focus only on you.
Let's hold close,
when the tempo slows.
Let's sit and smile when the music ends,
and lets kiss while they clear the glasses.
Let's walk out to the cold night air,
and journey home in arms,
two steps forward, one step back.
Let's undress each other once home
and dance naked in the garden,
With a mirrorball moon
and a dew soaked dancefloor.
And let's hokey cokey again.

Dear Sir, I objcet to the suggestion that we should dance naked in the moonlight. it is far too cold, and I refuse to remove my string vest.

Yours,

Matron.

PS. Just a passing thunk, but it's a little belter, Jerry. Some cheeky little phrases in there, and smiles all the way. Cheers, Cobber.

Great poem Jer, and great memories. I particularly like the image of a 'mirrorball moon' (which can happen after a few bevvies, of course)

God! this takes me back...

Reminds me of a dire dive called Joanna's ( Joe Spanner's) in Southsea. It was the kind of place were if you were unwary enough to pass out on the floor then you'd have been digested by the carpet by morning :D

Very evocative, JB

Wow. That was quick. Im fairly sure all the usual suspects are on board in record time (and an old hand returning in Spally) So I can safely post unless or until another welcome face happens by :D
