a new adventure besets me now
as I look upon her beautiful bow
a little vessel, but quick and agile
ag'in the big guns she would be fragile

aloft in the nest is but my home
as through the waters we do roam
and then I balance on her yard
alas to set the sail be not hard

adventure begins to wear me down
'alf rations make me stomach grow'n
and days of hard work continue on
a blistered back from heat and sun

another shift and doubled hours
as the crew drops off and sea devours
again a mate would choose to leave 'er
aloft his head has taken fever

and so the sea is a life of hardships
as storm and death takes in its grips
an arse be stubborn and rabbits fertile be
a mariner loves the life at sea

now that does remind me of the only piece of wordsworth I have read, an extract which I posted yesterday.

How nimbly you managed the meter and rhyme!

Another great one, sir, keep them coming... You are doing great.

What a nice poem, Bien. It's like viewing a whole picture made of words in their best possible collocation.

you have written this so that it reaches a wonderful climax. Very heartfelt, convincing and imaginitive.

Aboard HMS Trincomalee, when she was called Foudroyant, and I was a kid! Fantastic. And if ever you get the chance to visit Trincomalee in Hartlepool you must!

dafydd, I would love nothing more. Even with the toils that accompany these vessels, how I wish I could serve on one of them. I long to take an excursion of several weeks if I could find a place that offers such. (just as long as it is in warm waters...LOL)
