You look beautiful, sleeping.
You breathe quietly
Your faced unlined
By the cares and woes
That I know haunt you.

You lie, curled up,
Your long, dark hair
Spread over the cushion,
Alone in your dream world
Where nobody can reach you.

Behind those lightly closed lids,
Sparkle the most gorgeous eyes,
Eyes that I could fall into.
Your long lashes curl,
As you smile that half-smile.

I'd love to be inside that head.
It looks like a beautiful world
I won't disturb, even with a kiss.
Sleep well, little one,
Sleep well.

X

How tender! What a declaration of refreshingly unequivocal love!

Sometimes, just sometimes, your whole being just melts, and when it does, you have to do one of two things - either bottle it up, and be a bit selfish, or share it.

Thanks, Prince. Always appreciate your comments. It's what makes the Forum special, the cross-fertilisation of ideas, and the giving and especially accepting of each others comments.

Very good Daffy. My thoughts were you were writing of a partner, until the end when, it switched to being a child. Pure love either way.

Hmmmmm!! Not Quite! (Gilbert O'Sullivan, if I recall aright - and I hope I don't). Slightly off the mark.

now don't you go controlling the impressions your poems have on your audience!

Oi. Lay off Gilbert. 'We will' and 'Alone again naturally' are classics that will one day be rediscovered. :P Love the man.

Grr. leo is frankly a twat. Gilbert O on the otherhand is a piano playing tunesmith extrodinaire :)

I believe dafydd at the beginning, at conception, we are all girls, then for some odd reason some cells mutate and bingo! a mutated human called boy. ha ha (ok, ok, so you rule the world, but you're still mutant ok????)

is it ok if I choose to read it as a love poem to a woman? Love "Eyes that I could fall into."

Thanks angliholic!! I really appreciate that. It's rare I write something I'm quite proud of, but I'm big-headed enough on this occasion to like it too! Thank you again.
