I Love You

I see my nana
I hear her say, “I love you & so proud of you.”
I am stronger because of her, I make my own Choices.
I see my self in seven years, Cap & gown I’m dressed,
Mother, father, sisters all, Celebrating with me.
My future is on track.
I get a visit from nana that night. “I love you. I’m so proud of how far you’ve come.”
The clock ticks on, Mom is crying. Friends and family surround me.
I’m wearing white, it’s my wedding day.
I hear the music playing, and the words “I do.”
I see nana that night. “I love you. My, how you’ve turned into such an adult.”
Four years go by.
I see the doctor, “it’s a girl” I hear. I see my husband smile, sitting there with our son.
I see nana that night. “I love you. What a nice family you’ve made.”
Days turn to years. I see the priest.
My friends and family are there, but they don’t hear me,
They don’t see me.
I see nana.
She takes my hand.
“I’ve missed you so much” she says.
I cry.
I hear her say “I love you.”
