Question it, pull it apart.
Don't accept it as is.
Blinding lights, bright lights,
hold no more truth
for their brightness.
Brevity can capture.
Authority can be questioned,
else it eat's the unquestioning.
Hunt hunters,
disrobe robes,
uncollar collars.
Accept love
until you doubt
then
accept your doubts.
Love like there is no tomorrow,
as when there is none
it wont matter.
Give them your heart to break,
open your chest and
let them carress it or crush it.
For either is better
than neither.
Dont be upset about upsetting
its inevitable.
Dont muffle your thoughts,
accept your instincts.
If you think they lie,
they do.
If you think they flatter,
they do.
And if you think they are harsh
they may not be.
Question written.
Question spoken.
Question the long held.
Question yourself,
but believe your instincts.
Be honest about your weakness,
but dont wallow in it.
Fight self pity,
take responsibilty.
All books could have been
written by you.
The gifted,
are but happy recipients,
but true heroes
are heroes.
You cant unabuse the abused,
no more than you can unbeat ,
the beaten.
You can tolerate,
but the best of luck,
on what should be tolerated.
You can do your three score
and ten,
to quote a book
you could have written.
So many coincidences
gave you two eyes.
Dont follow blindly.
Finally,
follow my advice
and don't think any of this,
holds merit,
it only may.

how true but I wonder if the last one wrenched it out and I never got it back....

You cant unabuse the abused,
no more than you can unbeat ,
the beaten.

you understand this better than many, I'm sure Jerry

overall, you speak the wisdom of real life stripped of its psychology, philosophy, religion and....(the P word)

this is another one of your better works, which I plan to use as fodder for the monologues I'm writing (hope you don't mind)

So many words of wisdom in such a crisp, compressed form. OK, now I'll proceed to pulling it apart ;)

Dear Sir,
I feel that I must complain about your insistence on writing good poetry. What became of the mindless tripe that we brought up on, eh? Blasted lorry-ates! Pah! I could have done it meself !! Don't see why we have to contend with this quality stuff, eh, what? Mnk!

Ironically, I just criticized someone else for a verse that was incongruously didactic (not that I ever am) but here's an entire poem that is never anything but didactic, and yet so wisely & wittily so that one embraces it.

you could have wrote

should be "you could have written"

Haunted, I look forward to the ripping :)
Daffy, apologies, normal service will be resumed as soon as our technicians can find the problem :)
Prince, thanks for the embracing and the grammar correction and for letting me off the didacticism
thanks all.
