Frand Kermode dies

Widely acclaimed as Britain's foremost literary critic, Sir Frank Kermode died August 17 in Cambridge at the age of 90.

Truly the passing of a giant of academia. Sometimes controversial, but always eloquent and, above all, well worth reading.

Having read some of Mr. Kermode's criticism, this does sadden me. But he was 90. Rest in peace.

Brings me back to my college days. I still remember textbooks of 17th century poetry which the late Mr.
Kermode edited. He represents a generation of literary scholars which the world will never see again.
