Hi Guys,

Recommended here by a friend, it is increasingly difficult to find a like minded set of individual to discuss matters of interest but alas i have managed to finally sign up and begin some worthy discussions.

I have been writing a paper for some time now, although i must admit i have moved onto other works and i am finally coming to complete it after several months. Below is what i am currently compiling research material on:

"Examine the deeper ties and shared characteristics that exist between the detective and the criminal " I have chosen to look at Doyle's A Study In Scarlet and Twain's A Double Barelled Detective story.

I have focused alot on the aspects of "foreigness/intrusion" as both criminal and detective share these traits aswell as their use as a vessel to express social views during the nineteenth century. I have resorted to linking Holmes to the criminal mind in his approach to writing styles, i fear i am going off on tangents with this piece.

If there is anybody who can point me towards any themes/relationships/traits that are shared by the criminal and detective i would be extremely grateful.

I look forward to your responses and in turn future discussions.

Mary
