Literature research methods!

Hey guys, I would really appreciate some sort of assistance here.

This is for my extended essay, which is suppose to be 4000 words.

I have the topic, which is to do in depth analytical comparison between two pieces of literature. Now the problem is, I have no idea how to do “research” on my topic. Since I am doing a comparison on how the two writers have same themes but have taken a different approach towards them. Themes are Isolation, perception, reality.

Apart from looking at these texts closely, finding new things that relate to the essay topic. Finding similarities and differences. What else should I look upon? Look up Already written critics of the two?

Also, how do I play around with literary devices?

I would search for books in the 'Notes on:" or "Analysis of"<your book> and 'Notes on:" <your book2> area. Pull more information from those resources, and then, when looking for connections, look for books on modernism(or w/e type of literature it is) and compare them on that level. And then another outlet for information can be based solely on themes. If both novels contain a theme of rape, research novels that relate to this (and maybe explain how the themes play out in literature por lo general), also connect the dots with counter symbols. Lastly, what always looks hot is referencing scholarly articles. Good luck :>

Do you go to university? If so, then your library should have a lot of articles on any book that you can think of.
