Yesterday it was a bud,
today a flower,
and what about tomorrow?

Aye!
Let's drink a toast to now
and get drunk!

When tomorrow comes,
A flower of yesterday will remain
as beautiful.

Aha, Magnificent! One small thing, in this line "Let's drink a toast to now" I suggest you change 'to' to 'for'. Otherwise a wonderful piece. Favourite Lines???? The Entire Poem!

Thanks, Adi, for the nice feedback.

But what does "let's drink a toast for now" mean?

No no, I thought 'for' would be more appropriate than 'to'.

Thanks for your opinion!
But is "let's drink a toast for now" as idiomatic as "let's drink a toast to now?"

By saying "Drink a toast to now" you are saying 'let's salute the moment.'

To say, "Drink a toast for now." implies that you just want to pass the time drinking, and realy the word toast, which in this context is a salute, becomes redundant and would be better replaced with cup, or glass.

Ai, is a rather odd word, The three toed sloth according to my dictionary. :D of course I know you are just using it as an exclamation of assent, but Aye would probably be more appropriate.

Not a bad little poem though :)

Best. H
