Sounds are echoing off this dark wall
Four corners of cement, I am trapped
Shameful
Metal slashes up against rustic bars
In the night
I am innocent!
These cries are inpoweing
Scream out...Let me out
Let me out
what have I done to you?
Looking out, city lights
Frightened faces, terror in your eyes, rapid pulse
And then you pass me by
Thrown out
Appeared innocence
All lost the day of captivity
It's cold, it's dark
Do they understand?

Great title - and the sparse language is very fitting for the subject matter.

I'm not sure I understand this bit :

And then you pass me by
Thrown out
Appeared innocence
All lost the day of captivity

who is the 'you' referring to? the 'reader'? or 'innocence'?

and I think 'inpoweing' in line 7 should be 'empowering'

Thanks for sharing this

That last line vividly sums up the whole of the poem: "Do they understand?"

Do 'they' ever understand? An echo of Christ's "Father, forgive them..."
