the glossy crow uses razor beak
to tear at the pigeon's plume
take that!
and that!
its drab feathers scatter
in the exhaust of traffic
the pigeon huddles on the footpath
hoping heeled shoes
will dodge his frail shell
perhaps today,
death be the circle of his life
scavenging foodster
plunder-like existence
a kind human hand rescues
the pigeon
or perhaps just prolongs
his ultimate destiny
the crow squawks as it flees
the crime scene
now, sitting in a newspaper lined box
the pigeon waits patiently
for its end
