St. John's Wort

Home remedies are fun. St. John's Wort = good for depression. From the studies that I've read, I'd say that this is a valid one, too (not snake oil). It really does seem to help as much as a standard SSRI. Couple it up with some lavender scents, and you're golden.

It seems to be a natural way to help with depression. Even if you're not depressed it makes you feel better.

you should look into the effects of St John's Wort as for example, it is not recommended if you have high blood pressure or epilepsy. So make sure you inform yourself fully about any remedy, prescribed or not.

Well I don't take it as a remedy, but it seems to have a good effect. I don't have high blood pressure, actually damned lucky that I am I always seem to be in perfect health. But that's good to know.

I took it once and it does work, even though I couldn't call myself depressed. However, since then, I found out it can interact negatively with many other medications, so you really do need to talk to your doctor or pharmacist about whether it is safe for you. I am all for herbs and natuarl remedies, but that is where many drugs actually come from (nature) so it's not as safe as you might assume. It's just another form of drug. Poppies produce drugs, as does the many other plants.

I know; it is potent stuff and if you keep taking it it will build up in your body and then, soundofmusic...you might end up in a heap on the floor....
