Does it imply these days princes aren't as venerable as princesses?

This works on a number of levels..... the sign of a successful poem (particularly one so cryptic - even shorter than the standard 5-7-5 haiku)

Taken literally it can refer to the significance of the knotted obi in Japanese women's attire, in which the throne may be the formal history behind the fashion..... but it can also be read as defending the fraglity of the female form, a barricade against outside cultural influences, etc., etc.

A very inspiring and thought-provoking piece.
