I just finished Of Human Bondageand I liked the ending but I won't say anything - that whole spoiler thing. Anyway, I need to decide between a history book or a novel. The two books I'm thinking about are: Sinclair's The Jungle and A bridge Too Far by Cornelious Ryan. So, what do you think?

I heard that the only interesting part of the Jungle was the description of the conditions of the factory. I also heard it was full of antagonists were captilists strawmen. I personally hate strawmen in serious works that try to make a statement, its makes for poor argurements.
The jungle was meant to be a socialist tract.

The Jungle is in a social realist tradition ...a bit like Zola. It is an expose of the dreadful conditions endured by immigrants to America at the turn of the century. Sinclair reveals the real price of meat in the same way as the real price of cheap clothing is revealed to be dependent on exploited labour.
I liked it when I read it as an idealistic youngster.I was more interested in the narrative than the quality of the writing. I never read any more of Sinclair.
