My Hometown at Dusk

Calling me, calling me,
My hometown is constantly calling me at dusk,
Calling this weather-beaten body of mine,
A traveller, a migrating bird without a home!
All alone I roam over a foreign land,
Getting homesick now and then.
Now I hear it's calling me again;
My hometown seems to be calling again.

Calling me, calling me,
My hometown is constantly calling me at dusk.
I miss the looks of my hometown,
The moonlit mountain scenery.
And the stream in that yonder mountain
Always holds our dream in its arms.
Tonight I'm dreaming of it again;
My hometown seems to be waiting for me!

Calling me, calling me,
My hometown is constantly calling me at dusk.
Sorrows in my heart and tears in my eyes,
I hear it's calling me over and over again.
Oh! White Cloud,
If you ever wander back,
Be sure to take my homesick mood with you!
And send it to my dear mother!
Please, don't ever ever forget!

Hi, my friends,
Since my Muse has betrayed me for the moment, I guess I might as well translate a Taiwanese song into English for you.
Since I'm not a native speaker of English, the English rendition may seem cheesy.
So, please straighten it out where I go wrong!
Thanks.

Regards,

Are you from Taiwan, then? I have a very good friend who comes from there and who is a poetess herself... I'll ask her sometimes if she knows this moving song which you translated deftly.
But perhaps it's not the proper place for it here... I think it's better you post here your own... Well, I don't know, ask the others. In the meantime I enjoyed learning something new so thanks for sharing this.

Best wishes to you, Bar

Thanks, Bar, for your comment.
Yes, I have always dwelled in Formosa.
This catching song always strikes
A chord inside me without fail
Whenever I hear it played.
While I was translating it,
I was thinking our home
In the heaven.
A strange but sorrowful feeling
I've never had before.

Tears just kept pouring down
Like it hasn't rained for a long time.
