View Full Version : The Poet Sauron

For (not about) B/V :D

He meddles in the morning
and he meddles through the night,
when he sees a poem posted
he meddles with delight.
The urge is irresistible,
he cannot hold it in,
he has to just rewrite it
though he knows it is a sin.
But what is he to do
when he reads a verse by you,
aching to be meddled with
to make it something new:
“You didn’t understand it,”
the plaintive cries ignored,
of course he understood it
but it needs to be reforged.
So by the fires of Mordor
the poet Sauron scribbles,
his ring of power glowing bright
beside a plate of nibbles:
fuelled by I/V coffee
and lots of cigarettes,
he’s meddling with purpose now,
unburdened with regrets.

Thanks, Hawkman, for the sharing and the laugh.

I almost laughed my head off when I read this tongue-in-cheek poem of yours.

It's a great treat and respite from the boiling hot summer heat!

Have fun

So go ahead, Sauron (aka B|V), and have at this one!

Wonderfully funny.

angliholic, thanks, glad to have given you a giggle :)

My Prince: I think you misunderstand old chum. I was at some pains to ensure that this should not be read as an assault on the noble Mr. Verse :D Actually my intention was to be a bit self deprecating, although I guess we all may have a little of the poet Sauron lurking in our depths

Apologies. I did realize, as I was about to click the "submit" icon that the subtitle read "for (not about) B|V)" but then I went ahead and clicked anyway. No offense meant to either of you.

Hi, Prince.

No harm, no foul!

I'm sure b|v will love this - with his i|v coffee and cigarettes, of course.

Thanks hill, but the I/V coffee and cigarettes are actually mine, as is the ring of power! :)

Oh Hawk, pain as you could, this still reads as an assault (to my dismay, but we know I'm only a foreigner).

Don't hurry to own the ring of power, for you know what's your end then!
he he...

But the unquestionable value of your post is to remind us all of Tolkien and his genius beyond compare.

Be well, oh Hawk, Bar

Sweet Bar,

I think if you had seen what I did to B/V's poem (I PMed my revision to him) you'd get the point. I certainly hope he will :D

Best, H
