In this world of darkness
as we stumble and fall
and stretch our arms forward
to grasp what we cannot see
or to cushion our collapse,
do you remember a time
when there was brightness
and we walked without danger
of running into the unseen?

In this time of isolation
when each of us lives
in our own little world
filled with images fed to us
by a black box in the corner,
do you recall a time
when there was society
and people gathered in groups
to converse, celebrate, share?

In this season of icy cold
when no one ventures forth in quest
for light or for fellowship,
and wonder and imagination
have been banished from our consciousness,
do you remember a time
when we lived aboveground
and we turned our faces up
to be kissed by the sun?

I cannot live much longer
in this maze we have made
where blindness and insanity rule,
where it has been ordained that we cannot express
our feelings for fear of offending someone,
where I cannot feel and I cannot see.
There is no way out, here I must stay,
trapped in this prison, far away from everything.
Memories are all that remain,
all else has vanished in the dark rain.

I like and dislike this

I like it form an aesthetic point of view

However I disagree with the message, I think man is no greater plight than he was in the past, if anything things only seem to get better. What is common however is for every generation throughout history to consider themselves to be doomed, as man has turned loathsome and society is full of problems which were not there before. Truth is past and present, ****s roughly the same. This is just my opinion on that, I may be entirely wrong, or this sentence may be entirely wrong.
