Okay, well..

i have been feeling an excessive amount of thirst today, to the point where there is this unbearable ache in my throat. I have had litres after litres of water and nothing has changed. Has anyone ever experienced this before? i'm quite concerned.

I fell asleep and left the heating on last night, but woke up and turned it off - is it possible the 'heating' in my house has damaged my throat a bit?

I'm really hoping that by tomorrow this feeling is gone but it is yeah, starting to worry me. Imagine feeling extremely thirsty and times that by 10, that's how it feels.

Help would be appreciated!

If that feeling persists i suggest you may have some blood tests since increased thirst is a symptom of diabetes.

Hopefully it's nothing in your case (perhaps the heat, or the air condition, or something you ate)..i am just suggesting that so you may check and be on the safe side.

Manolia's right. If it doesn't go away, doctor time lady!

Some medications can do this, mouth breathing, hyperventilating, a dry room, allergies, diabetes and an electrolyte imbalance...

I often get up in the middle of the night and drink a coke, it seems to take care of the thirst that water doesn't. OJ does a good job too

You are thirsty for water, right? No other liquids that tempt you? Or other symptoms such as intolerance to light, heightened sense of smell or tendency to sleep during the day while sleeping the day away?

Heating could dry you out. If this is only on one day it's possible you're dehydrated. But if it goes on for more than that, I would agree with the others and go to a doctor.

Hey, nice to see you back Limajean. :)

I just want to add, that when you are thirsty never just drink litres and litres of water...it contains no electrolytes, so you might actually get overhydrated (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overhydration). Like Soundofmusic said, drink some coke or orange juice inbetween, or keep drinking water but eat a banana (potassium, etc.) or have some toast with vegimite (sodium, etc.).

Hope nothing was really wrong!

If the only thing is a feeling of thirst, then water or perhaps drinking a sports drink would help. You might also try a humidifier in your bedroom if it is just that your throat is feeling dry. I have to do this during the winter and during allergy season. The winter just because the air is so dry and allergy season because I tend to breathe through my mouth from congestion. A piece of hard candy in your mouth may also help to ease things. If it persists or has other things going on, then I would see the doctor.
