We are not perfect.
We have made mistakes
and we will make mistakes.
But you must understand
that our intentions
are always honorable, sincere and good;
and that all we do is for your own good.
You must understand
that even the mistakes we make
are made with the best intentions.

We will not take no for an answer.
You are either for us
or against us;
there is no middle ground.
We cannot comprehend
why you cannot see
the wisdom of our way.
We cannot understand
why you would wish
to remain as you are,
and not become as we are.

Excuse us for bombing your village
and annihilating your family;
it was an unavoidable accident;
you have our deepest sympathy,
and we regret the damage done
(we will reimburse you);
but in the war on insurgents and militants
you must understand
there will be mistakes made;
but our intentions
are always honorable, sincere and good;
you must understand
that all we do is for your own good.

Look at this new shiny metal construct.
It is the latest weapon
developed to fight the war
on insurgents and militants.
Isn't it a beauty?
It was created by God (who is one of us).
And as you know, God is perfect
and can do no wrong. That's not to say
that God never makes mistakes;
He would be the first to tell you
that He has made his share of mistakes;
nevertheless, God can do no wrong,
because his intentions
are always honorable, sincere and good;
even the mistakes He makes
are made with the best intentions.

We're glad God is on our side
and is one of us.
We would be at a loss
if He were on the other side.

If God is an American is the Big Mac made with holy bread?
Clever, well written poem.

Thank you all very much. I had no intention of writng subtle satire. I wanted this to be clear from the start.

But I guess it's also the beauty of poetry that one can interpret it in so many different ways! :) (though of course to the poet's annoyance at times too :p)

To me, that's one of the characteristics of poetry: it will be interpreted in different ways by different readers.

I think therefore, God is relative!

Then a beautiful characteristic maybe? :)
