I was wondering, do you have a habit of keeping a diary about what you read? I started recently, when I realized that I bring home books I already read once in the past. It happened to me a few times that I started to read a book, and then realized that I already know how it is going to end.
So I started to write about what I read, a simple plot, a few things about characters and some personal thoughts about the book .
How about you?

Sure, it's always interesting to hear about other people's way of reading!
I have a big notebook, and write by hand - I think the computer ruins the emotion, and isn't very handy when I want to write some of my thoughts.
I write down the phrases - since English is not my mother tongue, I find it quite useful; then I try to paraphrase the plot - also a good way to learn the language; I rewrite the writers thoughts, sometimes paragraphs, sometimes pages; and, of course, I write my views on characters - the likes and the dislikes (and usually find myself on a side of a bad person :)).
On the other hand, I surf the Internet for reviews, and add them too. Sometimes pictures. I know it sounds childish, but reading is a ritual for me, so I'm always trying to add to the atmosphere a bit.

That sounds a really thorough way of doing it, deR. I just keep a note of titles and authors in my ordinary diary so if I can remember roughly when I read the book, I can trace the basic info.
