After Darkness my second favorite thing is surrealism and questioning perceptions of reality.

Everything And Nothing

I cave in upon myself
roasting over the spit,
it is just one of those days
I like to be airless.

Spinning down the spiral stairs
I trip myself
and fall among the stones
but I never notice the broken bones.

I know what it means to be weightless
but I rather the density of water carry me home
if I even understood where that was.

Stepping around window ledges
what does distance and space mean?
Gravity was always something of an inconvenience.

So if I fall
than I will fly
for a few seconds
before it doesn't matter anyway.

I am not a dare-devil
death seeker
waiting for the world to watch me jump
but I won't split-hairs over a few loose stones
that might crumble beneath me.

I follow the road of the blind
with no destination
my compass is broken
and my maps are always
inside out and rightside down.

What is the purpose in knowing the meaning
if the point was only to reach the end,
I have no use for grail quests,
I don't seek immortal youth
and I don't care what the answer
to why is.

I am here because I am
to do as I may and will
the cosmic reasoning
is beyond my reach
so I will keep dancing
upon the edge

How many angles can stand
upon the head of a pin,
how many balloons would it take
to make an elephant fly
it is all the same to me.

I don't test the waters before I step
and trust I will either sink or swim,
if I found myself standing upon a liquid
surface then let it be as it may
I never look behind nor ahead
of me.

Your outstanding, wonderful poem reads as if you wrote it at one go, just wandering along with the thought. Kudos DM!!! It brings something of Szymborska's atmosphere though it uses its own style and your specific sensitivity.
Truly excellent. Thanks a lot DM! - Best - Bar

Thank you very much and yes this one was something of a stream of conscious write. I did not really think about what I was saying I just said the next thought that happened to pop into my mind.

It shows how, when we let go of conscious control, the unconscious part expresses its beauty and wisdom! Best again to you - Bar
