The four corners of the world are long gone
The edge of this city stretched beyond reach
Unmet neighbours will remain so
Mute garden birds sing unheard
The bedroom walls race away
My bed remains in the middle
You remain by my side
so close, so far away
you sense it and lean forward
your breath on my ear
a warm breeze of summer air
I am retreating
leaving without a pass
Now behind my eyes
looking out through two holes of light
I am locked inside
The lights become pin pricks
I am falling forever within
Into depths never delved
Dying in daylight
Into a single cell with a light left on
Flickering faultering
without hope or connection
to any four corners
I lose you and me
and fail to be.

A very enjoyable poem - a touch of 'Google Earth' viewpoint reduced to the tunnel vision of a microscope. Really well done.
