Father's Day

My affection
Lies solemnly
In the tips of your fingers
And in the center of your inspiring gaze.
My gratitude
Remains but a small fraction
Of my everlasting praise
For everything
Your insightful
And embracing voice has provided me.
-All this, and everything more
I appreciate you

My knowledge is but a root
Growing larger everyday
By the wisdom
And intellect
Of your tongue.
Gaining strength
And reassurance
To one day
Progress into a flower
Beside your own.
-All this, and everything more
I thank you

My love is but a blissful wind
Flowing by the touch of your hand
And the calmness in your sound.
It is a soothing melody
Gracefully humming its tones
To the beat of your heart
And the sympathy of your voice.

As a father myself, I can imagine how much this will mean to your father.

One of my sons is a poet and we often exchange and comment on each other's poems. After he praised one of mine and I wrote him how much that meant to me, he replied with a warm note, which ended with


What a gift we are to each other!

Of course I rejoiced that he considered me a gift to him, but even more so that he knew he was a gift to me.
