When I was a kid
And wounded by the
Dangers from the outside world;
My father would ease the
Burning the pain,
By offering an ice cream,
The many selections, the colors-
The flavors, the scents, the coolness
The supple melting in the mouth
Made thus ecstasy from me,
The utter expectation and the
Excitement from this child--
I know you can all imagine--
Drew the pain away.

Now I am on my own
Must be always very careful
About the dangers of this world;
I would be
On my own.
By being keen about
The faces that you meet, the
Insidious intents, by being utterly
Broken by people’s thus pretense,
By walking in the quagmire
In search for the truth.
I am thus hurt by the burden of this world
But today I ate an ice cream,
For that moment, all pain made haste away.
