I Love Like A Python

I know my love
has always been like a python
filled with the need
to devour you
swallow you whole.

My affection constricts
and I would draw you
into my pores.

I know that I seek
to feed upon those broken souls
the self-sacrificing act
to offer total devotion
in exchange for being
given absolute control.

It is my dysfunction
that I wish I could
keep you incased in glass
severed from the world.

I love the wounded solider
the warrior with scars
on his heart and
a soul that is shattered.

I seek out the ones
who will suck me dry
and leave me splintered
with slivers of myself
stolen away.

Those with ghosts
in their eyes
and memories shadowing their minds
I can be the Black Saint
addicted to their pain
while craving their dependency.

Always balanced
precariously
on the edge of passion and pain
my love is touched with insanity
all consuming like a python

and it always ends
with me on the bathroom floor
fighting off the shakes.
