Hey, I'm not a lumberjack, or a fur trader....
I don't live in an igloo or eat blubber, or own a dogsled....
and I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzy from Canada,
although I'm certain they're really really nice.

I have a Prime Minister, not a president.
I speak English and French, not American.
And I pronounce it 'about', not 'a boot'.

I can proudly sew my country's flag on my backpack.
I believe in peace keeping, not policing,
diversity, not assimilation,
and that the beaver is a truly proud and noble animal.
A toque is a hat, a chesterfield is a couch,
and it is pronounced 'zed' not 'zee', 'zed' !!!!

Canada is the second largest landmass!
The first nation of hockey!
and the best part of North America

My name is Robin!!
And I am Canadian!!!

We should probably apologize for James Cameron and Brian Adams as well.

It's also Pamela Anderson's birthday today, she was on TV complainin' about the seals again.

Oh, and the queen's over here making one of her yearly appearances. Yay?

Bah! She should leave our seal clubbers alone. It's not like they're endangered or anything, they're just "cute." You never see anyone getting up in arms about lobster traps.

Oh, and the queen's over here making one of her yearly appearances. Yay?

Ever since I was a little girl, I always dreamed of pushing that woman into a mud puddle.

Careful, we'll offend the sensibilities of the Europeans, who are willing to ban seal products from Canada, depriving fishermen in remote areas necessary income. While continuing to import tons of stuff from countries that commit massive human rights abuse and killing millions of domestic livestock of their own.

Easy, Pip! It's not like Canadian Inuit have been hunting seals for four thousand years and their culture and way of life is centered around the practice, not to mention their diet. White Europeans and their descendants are totally justified in complaining about the seal hunt (after all, they're so darn cute!), despite the fact that pollution and damage due to global warming (which some whack-job told me is mostly the fault of industrial civilization) has destroyed the habitat and led to the subsequent deaths of more seals in a month than an Inuit could kill in a lifetime.

But anywho, that's enough of that. I'm going to go get me some of this:

and watch some of these:

Good grief! Don't tell me I'm that out of touch with things, never watching TV, or listening to the radio, or reading the newspaper. I'll have to get back in the internet news habit.

(Though I'm sure my 10 year old neighbor would have been glad to tell me of said lady's visit.)

Happy Canada everyone! I'm off to see the fireworks!
