I doubt the "under 40" criterion makes any sense at all since it includes authors nearing their forties - like Nicole Krauss who has already published three novels - and youngsters like Tea Obreht who will debut in the Spring of 2011, what do you think? is this a reliable report on the state of literature in the US?
I have read novels by Shteyngart, Galchen, Krauss, Ferris, Safran Foer and Scibona, my favourites are Atmospheric Disturbances and The end - but I haven't read the new Ferris yet and I have read and heard a lot of good things about it.
How many of these writers have you already read? What do you think of their work? Do you know under 40 writers who should have made the list?
