"for what you nourish you claim mothership, and
for what you claim mothership, you
make a bed,"
life warned earth.
earth shut her ears.

we came;
we ate;
she made her bed

we come;
we eat;
she makes her bed, where

we fall like drowsed children,
one by one thousand, our

flesh nourishing soil, becoming
the cold nipple on which it gently chews,
sealing our still-born birth, and
so continuing

This is extraordinary! It's like something out of the OT!

wow! You really capture the interdependence of mother and child in this poem. I'm sure her nipples are extremely cracked though!
