First Spin: Song of sleep

Shall we drift away my dear
and float on calmer seas?
Let the rocking chase your fear,
and put your soul at ease.

Drink love, of the silver stein's
intoxicating ale.
Think love, of that shining isle
beyond some star soaked veil

Drifters rest there every night
to ply their errant eyes,
and sighing slake their thirsty sight
on a world without truth or lies.

Second Spin: Song of Dreaming

Slow set in of lights and sounds
around us a shawl of stars and cards
inscribed in runic dew
a castle of four kings
on Bicycles
parading through familiar streets
before us.
“See the lover's smiles” they cry
in paper voices to animal folk
“Give her a kiss! Encore! Encore!”
they insist, they implore-
Cinnamon lips and acid eyes
a deeper warmth, and lover's sighs.
They cheer and carry us on cobbled lanes
beneath burning windows
and sunrise skies.
The suicide king alone complains
but is overruled
by the singing stars
in our drowning dream of lights and sounds.

Third Spin: Song of Waking

sunlight
cold wood floor
ceiling fan
color bleeds through the window
above the shower head
and lights the surrounding steam
and toothpaste musings
congratulations, you survived the night.
Shave
Smile
Speak a little to make sure the voice box still works
something like normal
and out the door to blue skies
traffic
and sunlight

There is so much richness, and such diversity in these, not least of all in that list of the other bands on the album which, in itself, becomes another of your poems. You are presumably in quite an elated state of mind!

Do you think I should have split the poems into separate threads? Your observation's spot on, I was making a cd for a friend when the idea for a poem in the form of a tracklist sort of evolved into the project you see here.
