As one drowns in the sea
And the fear has fled
For the first time in our lives
We have a moment of unbiased clarity
When abandoned by life
We are able to see at last
How precious we are
And yet how utterly small
For in these
The smallest moments of quiet singularity
Do we find in ourselves
The meaning of what we are
The grandiose self image falters
And finally shatters in the presence of truth
And the honesty of time is revealed
Only at its end
And the fear has fled
For the first time in our lives
We have a moment of unbiased clarity
When abandoned by life
We are able to see at last
How precious we are
And yet how utterly small
For in these
The smallest moments of quiet singularity
Do we find in ourselves
The meaning of what we are
The grandiose self image falters
And finally shatters in the presence of truth
And the honesty of time is revealed
Only at its end
