Very funny and I can see the influence of Rimbaud (very much so).

Poppy's are in full bloom where I live. They are gorgeous!

"Poppy's are in full bloom where I live. They are gorgeous!"

I hope you are not havesting them and like Coleridge, enjoying the results! ;) I rather think A3's cherub is!

"The cherub inhales the final time from his poppy pipe…
Letting it fall from his high clime and land upon a poor idiot underneath…
A tiny smile crawls upon the lilly lips of the cherub"

I beleive this is a reference to opium smoking, the poppy being the source of opium.

Yea Hawkman is right, the poppy=opium

I did enjoy writing this

The influence of Rimbaud upon any poem is a thing of beauty

Hawkman have you ever read Kublah Khan, what did you think of it ?

Rimbauds Illuminations were also heavily influenced by the poppy

The poppy has aided in the creation of some of the wests and easts great artistic treasures...

Just thought id mention that :)

I was responding to the implication of the opium. I do not grow!

Indeed I have, and used to be able to recite it. I have always loved it.

The poppy is not the only intoxicant
to have influenced the arts,
the green fairy and LSD
have also played their parts...
