He stepped on the bus assuring himself that what he had planned was right. He paid his fair and sat down. Every turn made him more anxious. His stomach got restless as he got closer and closer, a feeling all too well familiar to him.
He told himself “I have to do this,” and continued to do so almost in a trance like state as he walked. Every step was heavier than the last. He began to doubt what he wanted to do but nonetheless continued. Cautiously approaching the end, he concentrated solely on what he set out to do.
When he finally got there, he was overcome with emotion. As he stood there and stared, he was angry, relieved, bitter, anxious, sad and happy all at the same time. He closed his eyes and stood for a moment. The sound of the waves and the whipping of the wind calmed him. He had finally made his peace and was certain this was what he had to do.
He reached into his bag, trembling. In his hand, he held the instrument that would solve his problems. He held what would end this chapter of his life.
As he started, he flinched. He knew what he had to do but struggled to do it. Although he had made his peace, that final step, he knew would be one of the most difficult things he would have to do.
He took a deep breath...and crossed their name out.
