Golda Meir once said that "Old age is like a plane flying through a storm. Once you're aboard, there's nothing you can do!"

I tend to agree with her, while at the same time being surprised & mildly amused at the symptoms of aging that creep up on you.

Take for example body hair (and I'm talking from the male perspective). It receeds from your pate but compensates by prodigious growth from your ears & nose.

Either your mind makes appointments your body can't keep, or you gravitate to the other extreme e.g. When tying up your shoe laces, you ask yourself "Is there anything else I should do while down here?"

I am finding out that my mother's warning is all too true: old age, she declared more than once, does not come by itself.

However, I have taken to wearing purple.....
