He was walking along the road on the brisk winter morning, the trees danced in the winds song happy because a new day had started. He saw what he was looking for in the far distance, The shape of a small women walking towards him on the other end of the small countryside road. His heart leapt with joy as the though that he would soon see her crossed his mind. He shivered, not because of the cold but because of the excitement crawling up his spine. He had never been this nervous in his life, never this nervous for just a women. But in his mind she wasn't just a girl, she was the love of his life, the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. She out-shinned all the other beautiful women in that small town, not because she was the most beautiful but because she was the only girl that he could see. As he got closer he could see the blush on her beautiful tanned cheeks from the cold winter air and her hand behind her back, hiding something from view.
" So you came..," she yelled down the road, uneasy it seemed,
" Well when you called me i couldn't get out of the house fast enough. I had to see your beautiful face before you left to College.I wouldn't miss it for the world." he said with a slight smile on his face, happy to see her but upset that she was leaving.
" I knew you would come, I need someone to talk to. Someone who would understand where i was coming from. No one else wants to hear what I have to say and i just hope and pray to god that you will listen." a tear rolled down her cheek, " Everyone wants me to stay here, stay home. And my mother isn't talking to me because she is saying that she needs me here at home to take care of her. So i am going to stay here. Don't you try and talk me out of it because i know deep down inside you want me to stay as well"
By then they were face to face, not moving any closer to each other just looking in each others eyes. She continued, " I have lived here all my life, and i don't want to leave now that people say that they are going to be missing me. And i have to be here for my father since he is ill and my mother is to depressed to take care of him. He needs someone around that loves him and that can take care of him." At that moment she fell into the mans arms with sobs of tears rolling down her blushed cheek. He held her close, pondering on what to say to her.
Without letting go of her he whispered in her ear, " I want you to go to college, i want you to have a future and live a happy successful life of your own. Brenda, it doesn't matter what the other people in your life say. What matters is what's in your heart and what is right for you, If you stay here in this sad little town i will not support your decision. You would be giving up the chance you have to get out of this place. Are you sure you want to do that? Are you sure you want to give up your life because of what other people think?" With that he cupped her face in his hands and kissed her, hard and passionately never wanting to let go of that small delicate face but knowing that he had to. She was going to ruin her life because of what other people wanted of her. She nodded, lightly and quietly agreeing with what he had to say about her decision, and just like that her mind was made. She wanted a life for herself and she wanted to be able to get out of the only town she has ever known. But she didn't think that she could leave her family here at home, she didn't think that she would survive such a long time away from the love of her life. In a big city is not where she wanted to be but in order to fulfill her dreams she had to go. He looked at her with his big green eyes, " Now go, or you are going to miss your bus, Brenda, i promise that i will take care of your father like he is my own and don't bother telling them. I will handle that. Right now i want you to go home, grab your bags and get on the bus, no changing your mind, no looking back. It will just make it harder." He was having a hard time speaking those oh so true words, he did not want to let go of her but he knew that he had to. She kissed him gently, while tears rolled down her face she turned around and walked back the way she came. LIke her love said, no looking back no thinking. He watched her walk away, with tears also running down his cold face. Her small figure disappearing in the distance. He didn't move from the spot he was standing for a long time, until the sun rise and set. He wasn't worried, he knew that if it was meant to be she would come back to him but if she didn't, it never was...
