So I recently graduated with my BA in English and even though it's only been a few weeks, I've already started to miss my classes and the meaningful discussions on literature (along with the various other subtopics that get brought up in an English class). My friends and family aren't exactly up for talking about things like John Donne or existentialism, so I decided to find a forum online where I could talk about such things lol.
A little about myself...
I started out in college as a Vocal Performance major, after aspiring to be an opera singer my entire life, but quickly learned that that was definitely not the life for me. I found myself reading books more than sheet music and spending more time researching composers than learning their songs. When I had to compose a simple song for a piano class, I was the only one who chose a poem by Robert Frost for lyrics instead of a nursery rhyme. As soon as I switched majors, I realized that I had found my niche and have loved every part of being an English major. British literature is my specialty, particularly the Victorian and Renaissance periods.
Now that I am graduated, I am going to be working as a Proposal Coordinator and hope to eventually go back to school to get my master's in something related to technical/professional writing. A personal goal of mine since graduating is to read a classic every 2-3 weeks...not sure how well that will go but I'm going to try :)
Some other interests of mine aside from literature/writing would be music, graphic design, and the French language.
