A small blush of embarassment comes over me for asking this question, knowing how forum users love to blast people for asking for homework help.

I guess that leaves me vulnerable.

Our 11 AP English teacher assigned us a project in hopes of turning us students into better readers for the AP 12 course. Our job was to take a book we've already read and evaluate what would be essential to a good understanding of the book (i.e. characters, themes, literary and historical periods, connection to current issues and intertexuality). Because Slaughter-House 5 and Grapes of Wrath were already claimed, my group chose Red Badge of Courage. We're supposed to find legitimate sources that outline our criteria.

The goal behind the project is to put students through the "proper reading" objective, as our future 12 AP teacher calls it. By knowing more about the book and similar allusions prior to reading, we're likely to understand more the first time--hence, our 11 AP teacher chose a book we've read in-class to test the experiment.

The problem: I can't find any legitimate web links discussing intertextuality in Red Badge. I just need links. While I'll have to write an essay on it using the sources as evidence, I can't find links. I don't need anyone responding to this to paraphrase it for me, or tell me what to read; I just need direction. Our group has literally already found dozens of links for the other needs; we just need this one.

Any help? I appreciate any and all links.

Thank you thank you thank you thank you,
