When moon's coat
the morning comes to fleece,
I host for you the night, who

makes her bed in fingertips,
and through fits of sleep
repeats your name.

I'm not sure I fully grasp the imagery, but the atmosphere certainly comes across very strongly.
The sparse style adds to the effectiveness of this, lumiere. A touch of desolation for what is no longer in our grasp?
Though that final 'who' at the end of the first stanza looks a little isolated - perhaps better at the start of the second?

maybe this would be better if it was a single verse? because I personally read it that way, the who at the end of the second line makes you read it as a single verse.

With fleece, are you talking about the fabric? when moon's coat the morning comes to fleece. I would like to hear the true meaning of this poem, because I find it interesting.

Jester - without stepping on lumiere's toes - I assumed 'fleece' in this context to be a verb,
meaning to remove (like one might shear away a sheep's fleece)
- in this case the morning uncovers the moon (by stripping away 'her coat' - 0f cloud perhaps???).

But if I am totally wrong I am sure lumiere will enlighten us in due course.

The delicacy & elegance of this is breathtaking!

"makes her bed in fingertips" is almost too beautiful to imagine!

JESTER and HILL:
Yes, "fleece" is verbage.

Would love to explain this in more depth, but I don't think that's my place.
I only hope it means something to you, the reader - gets under your skin a little.
Your interpretation in THE interpretation, so have at it!

I'll just say of the break: it's there for a reason, however foggy, and I like it.

Thanks, guys!

PRINCE:
Thanks a lot! :)

I love the tone and the mood of this piece, and because it actually is breathtaking (to me too), the pause feels in place... "makes her bed in fingertips", however mysterious, is exquisite... thanks a lot, lumière... Bar
