Yeah, its dirt and it is getting under my finger nails…but it needs to be buried.
Sounds like the start to a mystery/murder story doesn’t it!
Today under the warmth of the sun and breath of the skies I dug small holes and planted my vegetable garden. I don’t wear gloves as I believe that in order to be one with the earth you have to touch it, become part of it, admire and most importantly respect it. I kneel; skin into the moist soil, bending over whisper words of praise and esteem and take in the richness of the soil.
I crowd garden….my own term which means I crowd my garden…Dah! It seems to work for me. Perhaps it is cuz I take each plant in hand and spread their feeding roots and dig without gloves and make sure the cup I have carved into the earth is just right to fit its special bit of life. Maybe my odd way of talking to my plants is part of my success. My veggie garden each year is a feast not only for myself but co-workers and neighbors. It just amazes me how this small, innocent, delicate seeding can bring forth such flavor, nourishment and sustains not only its life but mine. What a gift!
Stopping to think about this….it is like a child.
