The Great Gatsby
Daughter of Fortune
Girlfriend In A Coma
The Unconsoled
Everything That Rises Must Converge
All obscure books, except for TGG, but I was curious on them. I might buy them, but I haven't decided yet. What do people think of them? I like literary fiction (rather than sci-fi or fantasy or whatever), so these seem like good choices. I wouldn't be surprised if people here haven't even heard of them, so I understand if people can't offer opinions. The only author I've read before is Kazuo Ishiguro, and so I might like The Unconsoled. ETRMC is hard to get your hands on, but might be worth it. Thoughts on these books?

Flannery O'Connor is one of the best American short story writers of the 20th century. You probably can't go wrong with her. The Great Gatsby is a must read eventually, so you can't go wrong with that one either.
The others I haven't read unfortunately.
Edit: Although, you might want to pick up O'Connor's collected stories instead.

I haven't read the others, but I found The Great Gatsby boring. Don't go by my opinion, though; I know other people who loved it.

The Unconsoled ranks alongside Ishiguro's best work in my opinion. It's a strange, difficult but ultimately rewarding novel.

I really enjoyed Gatsby. It's well written and has more than its fair share of enigmatic characterisation. I've also read Girlfriend in a Coma but found it a bit depressing and dull.

The Unconsoled is certainly strange and difficult - I found it extremely boring, and gave up after about fifty pages. If you want to try a modern British author I'd recommend Ian McEwan (especially "Saturday".) TGG is definitely worth reading IMHO.

Of those, I've read some selected short stories by O'Connor and The Great Gatsby. . .and I found Gatsby to be alright.l I wondered what the big deal was about that book, though. But It's been many years since I've read it.

Gatsby is a great read, something you should probably read sometime if you get a chance. You really can't go wrong with that novel.
I've never heard of the others except for "Everything That Rises Must Converge"; however, I have only read the short story entitled "Everything That Rises Must Converge" and never the actual collection of short stories that goes by the title of the one short story. ERMC is an okay read. Not my favorite short story, but it's decent enough.
